The Importance of Data Analytics for Decision Making

The Importance of Data Analytics for Decision Making

How can you stay informed?

Data analytics is the analysis of raw data to make conclusions. Businesses can use these conclusions to make informed decisions about their consumers. Of course, there are many benefits to data analytics. It can allow a business to learn more about their consumers which they can then use to make better marketing campaigns or improve their product/service to fit the consumers’ needs better. It can even allow a business to find new consumers to market to. This is all great, but how does data analytics impact decision making specifically?

Data analytics is a huge topic and it’s important to break it down into sections so that you know exactly how to use it for your business. Most of the time, it’s broken into four different sections:

  1. Descriptive Analysis: Looking at specific things that have changed over time.
  2. Diagnostic Analysis: Why things changed over time.
  3. Predictive Analysis: What is most likely to happen in the near future.
  4. Prescriptive Analysis: What we should do about the change.

Those four types of analyses are the core of what data analysis is. Using descriptive and diagnostic analyses to determine the current state of things and how to improve will give you a huge head start. But be sure to also run predictive and prescriptive analyses or else you’ll risk falling behind. Most companies use some sort of program to analyze data, which makes the process faster, less complicated, and has less room for error. Having the ability to analyze things so effectively means that businesses can gather tons of information which they can use to make informed decisions. This can have multiple positive impacts on your business. Such as:

  1. Competitive advantage.
  2. Enhanced consumer experience.
  3. Decreased costs.
  4. Increased productivity.

So, at the end of the day, data analytics has multiple sections that each allow you to figure out vital pieces of information about your consumers and if you use it to help make informed decisions then you’ll be able to improve all aspects of marketing and gain some goodwill from your consumers
